Vision
Through equal opportunities for a self-determined life - each individual sees themselves as an important node in a broad network.
Mission
By providing assistance, we encourage people to actively and confidently transform their lives sustainably. In doing so, we support local organizations such as 'Making a Difference in Uganda' (MDU), „Love Alive Uganda“ (LAU) and individuals in implementing their projects.
Values
Appreciating, strengthening, and preserving the uniqueness of each individual allows us to discover unity in diversity.
Transparency
We ensure information exchange and sharing through written reporting as well as through personal contact in the form of on-site visits.
About Us
Connection is formed when the self experiences its uniqueness through the collective 'we.' It symbolizes Neetiwaaka's intention to create a transnational network through the establishment and support of projects aimed at improving the local living conditions of people. This is achieved through the promotion of educational initiatives, the organization and management of healthcare projects, the support of healthcare, hygiene, and nutrition efforts, as well as empowerment, particularly of women. The primary focus is on enhancing their quality of life, living conditions, and education at the local level.
Our godchildren
With a sponsorship, you give a child the opportunity to sustainably improve their own living environment, thereby providing long-term support to the family and community as well. Let's together bring a smile to their faces.
Our Projects
Neetiwaaka Supports - Medical Assistance
We promote free access to healthcare. 'Making a Difference in Uganda' (MDU) implements this on the ground by visiting communities to provide necessary medical support:
- Treatment of illnesses, infections, and wound care
- HIV prevention - raising awareness, antidiscrimination, and destigmatization
- Malaria tests, treatment, and prevention, distribution of mosquito nets
- Distribution of Mama Kits - a medical supply kit to ensure safe childbirth
- Distribution of menstrual hygiene items - reusable pad sets to address 'period poverty'
- Deworming, health, hygiene, and nutrition counseling.
You can support by providing:
- Medications
- Medical and hygiene products
Neetiwaaka Supports - Kisenyi Street Children Program
Diverse reasons such as poverty, the loss of parents, and abuse lead children to run away from home. On the streets of Kampala, they face malnutrition, diseases, sleep deprivation, violence, and abuse.
'Making a Difference in Uganda' (MDU) has developed a program and created a safe space for children and youth. Workshops on important topics (drug use, health, hygiene, general education), basic medical care, empowerment through play and sports, and the provision of a regular meal are part of the program.
The goal is to provide children and youth with support and guidance in their decision-making process to move away from the streets. Eventually, the program aims to reunite them with their relatives (if available) and provide them with an education.
You can support by providing:
- Meals
- Opportunities for education - sponsorship
- Apprenticeships - sponsorship"
Neetiwaaka Supports - Education
There is only one thing more expensive than education, and that is no education."
In line with this quote by J.F. Kennedy, we aim to support "Making a Difference in Uganda" (MDU) in collaboration with Queen Mary Kindergarten and Junior School. "Empowerment through education" - we seek to provide access to education for all children.
The school is located in Mutungo, just a 5-minute walk from the organization's base.
You can support by providing:
- Provision of educational materials
- Sponsorships for children - equal opportunities
Neetiwaaka Supports - Women's Empowerment
Women still face many obstacles that make living self-determined lives difficult. Therefore, we aim to promote women in social as well as economic fields and thereby strengthen their self-confidence.
To implement this, there is a partnership with "LOVE ALIVE UGANDA" (LAU), a registered local NGO. The mission of LAU is: "Care, love, and support for impoverished communities and Mother Nature in Uganda."
The focus is on improving the quality of life and living situation of women. We support a training program for women to become tailors, hairdressers, and pastry chefs, with the goal of enabling women to lead independent or self-determined lives. Additionally, there are empowerment workshops on topics such as women's rights, gender roles, education on HIV, sexual health, and family planning.
You can support by providing:
- Vocational training and skill development initiatives
- English classes
- Purchase of teaching materials and supplies
Our Team
Elke Preininger
Chairwoman
I was inspired to establish the association 'Neetiwaaka - Network for Uganda' after my three-month stay in Rwanda and Uganda, where I worked with the aid organization 'Making a Difference in Uganda' (MDU). During my work with the local people, I felt 'UBUNTU' – which means 'connectedness.' How can I better express this than by assisting in the sustainable support of local organizations?
Elisabeth Ortner-Preininger
Treasurer
I am involved with Neetiwaaka to give people a chance to lead a self-determined and confident life through education and adequate medical care.
Dr. Jasmin Madrutter
Schriftführer Stellvertreterin
Knowing that things like water and medications, which we take for granted here in Austria, are not such everyday realities in Uganda, I am delighted to be able to contribute through Neetiwaaka to improving the situation.

Making a Difference in Uganda
Our partner organization in Uganda, "Making a Difference in Uganda" (MDU), is a non-profit organization that conducts a variety of volunteer programs in and around Kampala. MDU collaborates with small, local organizations to ensure the integrity of projects and maximize positive impact. The goal is to improve the health, education, and well-being of the local people.
Founder and CEO Beth Haley
MDU was founded in 2017 by Beth Haley, CEO, after she traveled to Uganda as a volunteer and fell in love with the country, its people, and its culture. She encountered individuals and organizations with a strong focus and commitment to making their projects sustainable in the long term. Support for local organizations is provided through donations, sponsorship, and the recruitment of volunteers. Beth aims to give people the opportunity to experience how special it is to use their skills and experiences to support local communities.
